To get clear, accurate, and reliable real-time captions and translations during online meetings, webinars, conferences, and on-site events, review the following before going live.

Speak Clearly in a Quiet Environment

Keep the microphone close to the speaker and reduce background noise whenever possible. Clear audio helps EventCAT recognize speech and deliver more accurate captions and translations.

Speak at a Natural, Moderate Pace

Speak clearly, complete each sentence, and avoid speaking too quickly. When several people are participating, encourage one person to speak at a time and avoid overlapping conversations.

Select the Correct Languages

Confirm that the selected source language matches the language being spoken. Also review the translation languages that will be available to the audience.

Correct language settings improve speech recognition and help produce more consistent translations.

Add a Glossary Before the Event

Add speaker names, company names, product names, acronyms, technical terms, and event-specific vocabulary to the glossary.

Using information from the event agenda or presentation materials can help EventCAT recognize important terminology more accurately.

Check Your Audio Input

Open the Audio Input panel and select the correct microphone or audio interface.

Use the real-time volume and noise graph to confirm that the speaker’s voice is being captured clearly. You can also use Listen to monitor the selected input through an output device and Mute to temporarily pause audio transmission without disconnecting the microphone.

Make sure microphone access is enabled and close any unnecessary applications that may be using the same audio device.

Use a Stable Internet Connection

EventCAT provides real-time captions and translations through the web, so a stable internet connection is essential.

For conferences, hybrid events, and large venues, a wired connection is recommended whenever available. Avoid changing networks during the session.

Run a Rehearsal

Before the audience joins, test the complete setup in Rehearsal mode.

Check that:

• The audio signal is stable.

• Captions appear correctly.

• Translations are displayed in the intended languages.

• The Live View layout is easy to read.

• Participants can access the meeting or translation screen through the QR code or shared link.

Prepare Your Device

Keep the device connected to power and prevent it from entering sleep mode during the event. For important sessions, prepare a backup microphone, audio connection, or internet option when possible.

A quick pre-event check can help EventCAT deliver clearer captions, more accurate translations, and a smoother experience for every participant.
