EventCAT Rehearsal Mode: Practice and Perfect Your Setup

EventCAT’s Rehearsal Mode lets organizers and speakers test their setup before going live. It’s a safe, private environment where you can check audio, video, captions, and translations without attendees seeing anything.

Why is Rehearsal Important?

Want to make sure everything works before your live session? Rehearsal Mode allows you to test audio devices, language settings, and layout design in a private environment. Nothing is visible to attendees until you switch to Live Mode.

This guide shows you how to:

Step 1. Open Your Session

Rehearsal Mode is only available in sessions with a paid pass assigned.

1. Go to the conference room you prepared for your event.

2. Select your session and click Join Session.

Step 2. Preview the Attendee View

1. In the Session Controller, confirm that Rehearsal Mode is enabled (top right).

2. Click Start Session and speak a few sentences into your microphone, or play prepared audio.

   • Check that translations begin within a few seconds.

3. Click Live View from the left menu.

   • A new tab opens, showing what attendees will see.

   • Verify caption visibility, selected languages, and layout/branding.

* Troubleshooting Tips:

• If translations don’t appear, double-check your selected speaking language and internet connection.
• If the preview tab is locked, go to Edit Session and make sure the session is set to Public.
• The EventCAT watermark in Live View will disappear once a paid pass is activated.
  

Step 3. Switch to Live Mode

1. After testing, close the preview tab and return to the Session Controller.

2. End the rehearsal session, which clears all test captions.

      3. Switch the mode to LIVE, then click Start Session to activate your paid pass.

• Attendees can now join, and captions and translations will display in real time.
  
  

Proactive Tips

• If you purchased a pass, download the QR code or Public URL ahead of time and share it with your attendees.
  

• Rehearsal Mode can be used unlimited times before activating your pass, so practice as much as you need.
