Why this guide?

Setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) correctly is crucial for security, ease of access, and smooth team collaboration. This guide walks you through configuring Okta SAML 2.0 for EventCAT step by step. By following it, you’ll ensure your organization avoids common mistakes, keeps logins secure, and enables users to access EventCAT with their existing company credentials, no extra passwords required.

Configure Okta Application

  • Go to the Applications → Applications on the left side bar, and click Create App Integration button.

  • Select SAML 2.0 and click Next button.

  • Enter the App name. You can enter any text on it.

- Enter the following items below. The most common reason SSO doesn't work is incorrect values being entered at this stage.

  • Single sign-on URL
    • This value follows the format below:
      • For the Entity ID, we recommend that you include a name that makes it easy for team members to find your organization, preferably in plain text.
      • e.g xl8, eventcat, ..
  • Audience URI (SP Entity ID)

  • After entering these values, click the Next button.

  • Finally, click the Finish button to complete the SSO integration setup.

  • Copy the Metadata URL you see on the Sign On tab and email us this value.

Signing in to EventCAT

  • In the Company Domain field, enter the Entity ID from the previous step, and Okta will take you to the page where you sign in.
