Automated Quality Control (AQC) by MediaCAT AI
MediaCAT now offers Automated Quality Control (AQC), a new AI-powered feature that enhances subtitle translations by improving accuracy, fluency, and readability. Building on our domain-trained machine translation (MT), AQC acts as a second pass that refines translated subtitles—automatically restructuring awkward phrasing, adjusting line breaks, and applying cultural context for more natural localization.
Enabling AQC:
1)
In ‘Select Output Options’ settings during the translation project creation steps, enable ‘Perform AI Quality Check by MediaCAT (AQC)’. This will add the AQC layer on top of the machine translation process and provide you with two different versions of the subtitles - one without AQC (only machine translated) and the other with AQC.
If you wish to adjust some of the tech parameters such as max lines per segment, max characters per line, you can also disable ‘Skip Adjust Translate’. This will allow you to enter a live preview mode of the output where you can adjust these tech parameters real time.
2)
When you click ‘Create & Run’ from the project creation steps, the page will move to the project detail and you can check the translation is in progress. Below screenshot shows that the translation and AQC are still in progress. Please wait until you have all two versions of the output available in the UI (refer to the screenshot in step 3).
3)
Once both translation and AQC are complete, you will see that version 2 (V2.0) is available in the UI. V1.0 is the machine translation result and V2.0 is the machine translated and AQC version. You can click on ‘Open Subtitle History’ to view both of the versions and review the changes made by AQC.
After reviewing and if you would like to use the AQC version, you can exit the Subtitle History and continue on with the project. However, if you decide the translation without AQC is preferred, you can click on V1.0 from the history menu and click ‘Restore to V1.0’.
4)
Since we disabled ‘Skip Adjust Translate’ in this guide, you are given the opportunity to adjust tech parameters and review in real-time. You can adjust the parameters from the control panel on the right side of the screen and click ‘Complete’ when you have the desired result. Once you complete this stage you are now ready to enter the editing sessions using MediaCAT’s Editor.
